At the monthly FSRA board meeting, we went over the latest information from the Chief Medical officer, and the updated restrictions put in place by AHS. With indoor social gatherings now restricted at 50 people again, this conflicts with our ability to host the fall AGM. Ringette Alberta has confirmed that we would be in violation of the restrictions and as such will not grant sanctioning for our AGM even under our modified plan. After a lot of discussions the FSRA board has unanimously voted in favour of cancelling the 2019/2020 AGM. This decision was not made lightly and is not ideal, but we must follow the AHS guidelines and protect the health and safety of our membership. The FSRA board has also unanimously voted to honour the earlier registration discount to all those families that registered on or before the July 15th 2020 deadline. Please be patient as this will take the MSA office time to process. If you had a concern or question that you wanted to bring up at the AGM that pertained to the 2019/2020 season (last season up to July 31st 2020) please forward those to the President at president@fortsaskringette.com so that the board can review them and address them for you.
Last thing I want to address is the filling of vacant board positions. We have received some interest and as such the board will contact those interested to bring them on to finish out 2020/2021 season. We thank those that came forward.
Please know that the FSRA board has worked very hard over the last 8 months to get our season going and to get the players back on the ice. The hard work and passion put in by all involved was made worth it this past weekend when several of our teams took to the ice in their first league games. I’m confident that together we can continue to do what is needed to keep the season going and for our players and families to continue to enjoy this sport that we’ve all come to enjoy and love.
